Window insulation – don’t lose it at the windows

The basic function of window insulation is to protect the walls from heat radiations as it provides a thermal barrier to the walls. Good window insulation helps to retain the heat in winter and keeps the house cool in summer. The window insulation provides protection from draft. These are mainly created by the gaps and can be stopped by blocking the gaps. It can be covered by draft proofing windows.

Draft proofing window insulation
This has caught the attention of the people due to the blockage of the air, which passes out through the air vents at ground level. This allows fresh air to circulate all through the room and help prevent dry rot.

To check the source of a draft:
1. Light a candle and move this to the edge of the window.
2. Place it at all the corners of the window.
3. If the flame flickers then the draft is coming in and this proves the entering the draft in.

Double glazing window insulation
The best method for draft proofing is to cut heat costs and reduces outside noise. Varieties of kits are available and another conventional kit which consists of either UPVC framework, which provides a rigid, weather resistant finish or an aluminum framework. They are fitted directly in existing framework or to the gaps. Even ventilation is provided for fire safety purposes.

Use of Window Insulation in the Frame
The purpose of window frame is to hold the window in its actual place. This is inevitably a host of retailers and suppliers. The different types of window frames perform the following categories:
Efficiency, cost, maintenance, look and security. They are very costly and hit the bank balance hardly.

PVC frames
They are two fold and are very popular. The merit in this is that they are cheap and long lasting. They are pvcu frames specially made of plastic. Pvcu is the weakest material and least secure.
Little maintenance is required in these frames.

Therefore different reasons and number of varieties are required for the framing of the window and this in order to provide for window insulation.
