Sheds – Store the outside stuff outside
Storage
sheds are generally used for outdoor purposes, to protect
or shelter your belongings from the environmental factors like
sunlight or rain. Storage sheds come in many different sizes,
shapes and materials, and differ greatly in price too. There are
certain points that you should take into consideration before
buying a storage shed. This will ensure smooth sailing and a hassle
free life for the shed.
Storage
shed materials
It is not possible to use any material for storage sheds, unlike
the cabinets. This is because they are exposed to the environment,
and thus need resistant and strong materials, that are durable.
Thus appearances should be of secondary consideration. Following
are some of the materials that are suitable for a storage shed
–
• Cedar
• Vinyl
• Aluminum
• Stainless steel
• Certain types of wood
Although the main material has to be one of these, the sheds can
be made attractive by making minimal usage of attractive material,
for borders, drawers etc, to enhance the look.
Storage
shed choosing criteria
Following are the 5 points that you must keep in mind before buying
storage shed –
1.
Price vs. quality – price always wins in this case.
Generally people have the tendency to buy the cheapest possible
product in the market but do not do this in case of a shed because
you will have to keep replacing your sheds. A strong durable shed
is always the first priority.
2.
Design – The design of the storage shed has to
be very good, and in co-ordination with your property, because
otherwise it will spoil the whole look of the place. Select a
rustic, antique piece for a countryside villa. You can go for
a modern contemporary one, for your city home.
3.
Good sliding materials ensure durability – People
might find wood or wrought iron, very attractive to look at, but
they are a complete no-no! Wood is bad for rain, sun and so is
iron. Choose a material like cedar, aluminum vinyl or any other
artificial materials that are uv resistant
4.
Site preparation – Site preparation before installing
the storage shed is important. You can do this by putting concrete
blocks, slabs, crushed stone etc.
5.
Size – Make sure your storage cabinet is of the
right size, because a smaller one is very inconvenient and too
expensive to replace, time and again.
Thus it is
important that you keep these criteria in mind, and you will be
ensured of a long lasting shed in the garden.
