Foam board insulation
Foam board insulation products are commonly used in buildings. Foam board
insulation has a relatively high R-value compared to other types of insulation.
Many variables affect the final R-value of foam board insulation .The
initial density of the foam board are blowing gas used and how the panels
are handled and the type of facing used, and the conditions under which
the panels are installed.
Several methods of installing: Foam board insulation
There are several methods of installing foam boards insulation. You can
spray it as a chemical mixture from a small aerosol container, or you
can apply it in bulk from a pressure sprayer. As the chemical mixture
cures it also fills and seals odd-shaped spaces and wall stud cavities.
You can also apply the foam as a liquid that flows over obstructions
before it expands. One can pour solidified plastic foam as loose beads
into concrete blocks or install it as rigid panels that can be cut to
size.
Foam board insulation has also an alternative if there is insufficient
space to install non-foam products, or when an equal R-value of non-foam
insulation would require structural changes to install it. Although many
insulation products, such as fiberglass and cellulose, cost less per
their given thickness. Foam board insulation also controls air infiltration
more effectively than most other forms of insulation.
Common Applications of Foam board Insulation
It is required to spray foam and foam boards insulate roofs, curtain
walls, foundations, entry and overhead garage doors, pipes and tanks,
and climate-controlled storage units. They also serve as sheathing and
insulation on the inside surface of a basement or crawl space wall, beneath
a basement slab and slab-on-grade floor. Exterior applications are dependent
on inside or outside foundations, crawlspaces, and slab-on-grade foundation
walls. There are several ways to incorporate foam board insulation in
concrete or masonry walls: pouring loose foam beads into masonry block

In cold weather, warm inside air containing water vapor which can pass
through the wallboard and wall insulation and condense on the cold exterior

occur.
