Concrete Tool
Concrete tools are used in construction activity for placing, spreading
and finishing the concrete. Each activity requires a different concrete
tool for best results. Most concrete contractors are equipped with such
tools that are handled manually and do not require any electricity or
battery to charge them. Smaller equipments or tools can also be purchased
from most home improvement supply stores.
Concrete tools for different activities
Concrete may be poured into forms or may be set up from pre-cast concrete
blocks. In either case, equipment such as rakes, concrete mixers, chutes
and wheelbarrows may be used to bring the concrete to the site of construction.
Placing the concrete depends upon the type of concrete material used.
Once the concrete is placed, the next step is to spread it in order to
make the concrete ready for finishing. Tools such as shovels are extremely
handy and used in almost all spreading activities. Spreaders are also
used for pulling and pushing concrete to spread it evenly on the surface.
Tools, known as 'Straightedges', are used to screed the concrete. This
helps to remove excess concrete and gives an even level to the top surface
of the concrete. Screeding tools may be hand tools made of wood or magnesium
or may be mechanical, including vibratory, oscillating and rotary ones.
Concrete tools for finishing concrete
Finishing concrete also involves the use of specific tools. Tampers are
used to push coarse aggregate in the concrete to a lower level. Darbying
or Bull Floating is carried out to ensure that there are no voids left
behind due to screeding. Edgers are required to give a finishing touch
and protect concrete from chipping. Edgers may be hand-held or walking
edgers. Groovers help in jointing the concrete thereby minimizing cracks
and gaps at a later stage. Hand floats are then used to give a flat surface
to the concrete followed by troweling that produces a hard and dense
surface. Hand-held floats and trowels are used in these activities respectively.
Resources for concrete tools
Concrete tools can be purchased from any home improvement or concrete
suppliers stores. These stores are easy to find and are commonly found
in most areas of any city.
