New
mulch makes a huge differnce.
Is
the outside of your looking a little ratty for your taste. Try
a couple of truck loads of new mulch, it will make a huge difference.
It
is one of teh most simple things to do, adding mulch. If you have
a truck it is even easier. All you need is a shovel and a patient
strong back.
If
you have muched before it is probably time to do it again. It
should be done every 6 months. Mulch is made from chipped trees
and limbs. So it is an organic material, and it will break doen
an become food for the vegetation that you have place d in your
flower garden. So adding more will keep the process going. The
great thing that mulch does it that it keeps the warmth in at
the roots in the winter and keeps the soil from drying out in
the summer. It is a great product to keep fresh year round. The
two best time to put mulch new mulch down is in the early fall
and early spring. That will allow it to settel and pack to provide
the barrier that it is designed for. On top of that it really
helps your yard with that neat, polished look.
When
laying mulch it is very simple. Just lay a layer that is even
about 4-6 inches deep in the flower beds. There is a particular
way to add mulch around trees. Make a lare pile at the base of
the trunk. Then hollow it down along side of the truck. So the
entire trunk is exposed by a "moat", but you have a
mound of mulch that extends 6 - 8 inches high all the way around.
This will allow water to flow down to the base of the trunk. That
is pretty much it. Just get out there and do it.
