Mold
is a silent killer that should be death with accordingly.
I do not care where it is your
house has mold and should be stopped, before it causes any real
damage.
Mold is bad stuff. All it needs is
moisture and and a food source. We as humans require water to
live and we give off moisture from our bodies. The out doors runs
rampant with it. Moisture that is absorbed by the ground capillaries
through out the soil. Even under things (houses for example) and
it is then evaporated into the environment to make rain. Just
like the top on a pot that is on the stove the moisture will condensate
on anything that does not allow it to evaporate on is own (your
crawlspace for example.)
So if the crawlspace is not ventilated
correctly or sufficiently moisture will form. One important thing
that mold needs to grow. The other is a food source. The wood
in your house. So you have a breeding ground for the bad stuff.
Don't panic everyone does.
Every now and then you should crawl
crawl in the space and check it out. if you find some, don't panic.
When you should be worried is when it is black and over a large
section. And most importantly on your subflooring. That is a sure
indication that it is floating in your living space. Big trouble.
If it is just surface mold. Just squirt
it with a spray bottle with a bleach solution and wipe it off.
The bleach will kill it, and get it gone. Then explore more options
to get better ventilation in your crawl space.
