In order to use sprinkler pumps first thing you need to determine is how many gallons per minute each of your lawn sprinkler heads will require spraying properly at a specific PSI pressure requirement. It is always recommend to designing your system with 6 to 8 lawn sprinkler heads per zone so that you will take the gallons per minute per sprinkler head, times the number of sprinkler heads, in order to determine the number of gallons per minute required to produce a satisfactory spray pattern at a specific PSI pressure rating. Once the numbers of gallons are determined per minute, as an example at 35 PSI, or what ever is required, then one can determine the sizing for the sprinkler pump. Let us assume that your system will require 35 PSI and 3 gallons per minute per sprinkler head and then you will have 7 sprinkler heads on each zone of your lawn. So with this assumption the system will require 21 gallons per minute at 35 PSI to fulfill your sprinkler demands.
