Motion Detection Sprinkler
A motion detection sprinkler is an effective natural repellent to deter deer, cats, rodents, squirrels, skunks, and other small animals from your yards, gardens, plants, ponds, or any area where you don't want them.
A motion detection sprinkler consistently creates an unpleasant experience for animals and other enemies of your garden through a combination of:
1. Sudden unexpected noise.
2. Unexpected movement.
3. Water spray.
The animals immediately associate the unpleasant experience with the area where the motion detection sprinkler is located. To avoid such experiences, they begin to avoid the area. While humans stay away from the area where a motion detection sprinkler is located, animals are scared to a much greater degree and run much further and stay away longer. This difference in reactions of humans and animals is attributed to the inherent fight or flight survival response found in most animals and their lack of intelligence or ability to figure out what caused the annoying noise and motion.
Other reasons why a motion detection sprinkler works is:
1. for consistent training/repelling at the location for 24 hours a day.
2. The environment rather than a person or other animal doing the 'conditioning' or taming.
3. The water spray is sufficient for surprising the animal and giving an unpleasant experience and communicates an immediate, 'leave the area now' message.
How to set up a motion detection sprinkler:
1. Position the motion detection sprinkler in a way so the area you wish to protect is within its 105 degree detection area. Avoid pointing the sprinkler at any object where the movement may cause a "false triggering" i.e. sidewalks, roads or waterfalls.
2. Adjust the sensitivity dial to the lowest setting but still having the ability to pick up the target animal.
3. Tune the motion detection sprinkler to ensure the water covers the area you wish to protect.
Highlights of a motion detection sprinkler:
1. It has a water based concept that safely and effectively repels animals without chemicals, visually objectionable barriers or shock.
2. It has a passive infrared detector that operates even when unattended and 'sprays' as soon as a movement is detected.
3. It operates day and night i.e. operates 24 * 7. It protects day and night for up to 6 months (or 3000+ activations) on one almost 9 volt battery.
4. It becomes a temporary water 'barrier' and can be used in neighborhoods where fences are not allowed.
5. It has a water conserving design because it only uses 2 to 3 cups of water per deterrence and can usually be used in communities engaged in restricted lawn watering practices.
6. Water flows through stake and is easy to extend coverage with additional motion detection sprinklers.
