Now a common technique for making roman shades. Seam the fabric widths along with lining fabric together. Put that shade fabric on flat surface and place lining on the shade fabric. Then pin in place. Mark lines across top, bottom a repeat for opposite side. Also mark placement rings in the horizontal rows at upper edge of hem. Side by side tape or pin lengths of twill tape to work surface. Catch tapes in stitching by stitching hem in place. Again pin the twill tapes to ring marks. Go on with the creativity and stitching skills and finally cut and tie the cord for first row securely at bottom ring. Fabric glue should be applied to the knots to prevent them from fraying or becoming untied. Finally screw the awning cleat into the window frame or the wall.
