Ceramic tile murals are convention designed and hand painted by tile painting artist, Mimi Ross Blank. Each tile mural is shaped specifically for the individual clients with their input on subject matter and color. Tile murals are ideal for kitchen back splashes, bathrooms, etc. Since the hand painted tiles are kiln fired, the murals are permanently adhered and can be installed indoors and out. Tile murals have bedecked homes and businesses for centuries. The use of tiles dates back more than 6000 years to Egypt. The history of tile is entwined with the history of civilization, and shows no sign of losing its luster in times to come. People all over the world beautify with tile. The enclosure of hand painted tiles can consist of a few interspersed with plain field tile and range to huge tile murals covering entire walls.

Durability:

The permanence of painted tile is evident in Lisbon, Portugal, where the oldest tile painting still intact remains vivid and beautiful. It was installed in 1565 and is permitted Suzanna and the Elders. Aside from its permanence, tile is fireproof, water and stain resistant, hygienic and easy to keep clean. Plainly wipe with nonabrasive cleansers. Also, disparate carpeting, wood or wallpaper, tile will not fade in sunlight. Tile might also be installed outdoors. Photographs can even be transferred to tile now by a procedure called Sublimation. The firing course melts the glaze into the tile, resulting in an image that will not fade.

Conclusion:

Today, a homeowner or interior designer can stop at a chain building provide store and pick up a commercially produced tile mural and have it installed the same day. While convenient and cheap, these mass contrived murals cannot hold a candle to the quality, personality, and distinction of my custom designed, hand painted, original tile murals. The line between indoors and outdoors continues to haze as the desire to enjoy outdoor spaces furnished with interior comforts becomes the norm. Driven by the need for nonviolent respites to balance stressful lives, people are consciously carving out more time and creating sophisticated spaces for enjoying outdoor settings with family and friends.
