It may appear a little strange in nature to talk about ladder maintenance. The simple reason for that is - in our mind we always regard ladder to be of the breed that rarely needs any extra attention. Behold! Your ladder needs attention like so many other articles of your dwelling. This is why here are some of the must dos in shape of Ladder Maintenance tips.

Ladder Maintenance Tip number 1: the general ladder check up should be around once every six months for domestic ladders and at least once every month for service ladders.

Ladder Maintenance Tip number 2: for an effective Ladder maintenance keeping a log would suffice quite well. A typical log file includes: date, Ladder Type, Length, parts including Feet, Locks, Rope/Cable, Beams, and Rungs, Noted Problems including when and where for future reference, Visual dents, Corrections required, Date fixed, Ladder sections cleaned and re-waxed and returned to service and lastly Date and Signature.

Ladder Maintenance Tip number 3: applying grease, wax or paraffin as lubricating agent is a vital ingredient of Ladder maintenance. Of course it is but evident that the material would change in accordance to the ladder itself. The Ladder maintenance tips would suggest, for example, paraffin wax for the fiberglass version of the ladder or grease when it is dealing with an aluminum ladder.

It is to be noted though, that old candle wax or paraffin wax may be applied almost anywhere barring few exceptions.

Ladder Maintenance Tip number 4: it should always be kept in mind that the Ladder maintenance tips are applicable and to be exercised no matter what the material, make or usage of the ladder is. In this case you do not have to rely solely on the brand name of your ladder simply because taking such a rearguard action may prove fatal and result in accident. It is perfectly your responsibility to look after your ladder for it is for YOUR safety.

Ladder Maintenance Tip number 5: it is very important to coat the lock parts of your ladder with related lubrications. This would protect the ladder parts from the possibility of rust formation and ensure a longer life for your ladder.
