Fiber
Optic
Lighting
Fiber optics
has a peculiar characteristic of maintaining a very low
level of light evenly throughout the room which gives the
viewer a nice illusion and tends him to loose the space
of sense. Thus this modern approach of using fiber optic
lighting in a celestial motif comes into play. Fiber optic
lighting can’t be referred to
as an overall new technology because it has been used in
many parts of Europe for several years earlier. According
to the experts in this related field fiber optic lighting
is one of the best things for your home. Fiber optic lighting
also doesn’t interfere at all with the overall look
of the room, one doesn’t have to have twenty track
lights coming down from the ceiling and hence the normal
look of the room can be restored.
Few advantages of fiber optic lighting
A small fiber optic cable is made up of hundred’s of
tiny strands of flexible glass fibers and hence when light
shines into one end of the cable the other end lights up.
Many users place the sources hidden in an attic or any out
of the way area. The light source uses only one bulb and
hence these lighting system are very energy efficient and
easy to maintain. In short it can be concluded that fiber
optic lighting is a safe, energy efficient and cool way of
lighting ones household. The fiber optic lighting doesn’t
introduce heat into the area that’s being lit. It is
also a discreet form of lighting which doesn’t have
a negative effect on the décor of the room. It is
very long lasting with an excellent color rendition. In this
way with all of the above mentioned plus points fiber optic
lighting has become the most favored choice of all the people
around the world.
Few precautions while using a fiber
optic lighting system
The users must take the following precautions while using
a fiber optic lighting in their house:
• Both
the sides and ends of the fiber illuminators must be protected
from UV rays, which degrades the fiber and seriously affects
its longevity.
• It is
not advisable to bend the fibers at hard right angles.
One can bend it up to 8X of its diameter and not more then
that.
• Distance
of illumination should range from 263 feet only when the
illuminator is bright and focused.
• The
fiber must be placed in a direct path of the light beam
in order to transmit the light effectively from the fiber.
Thus if all the above precautions
are strictly followed then no doubt that fiber optic lighting
system will definitely last longer.
