Cloth
Diapers
several matters to consider when deciding which type
of diaper is best for the baby. The cloth diapers that
are available in the market today are different from
the ones of the yesteryears.
Why Cloth Diapers?
Before the baby is potty trained, minimum of eight to
twelve diapers are required in a day. The disposable
wipes and diapers will drain a good amount of money.
Though the initial cost of the cloth diapers is more,
in the long run it is a saving. Since the washing cloth
diapers at home or in diaper service is cheaper. Cloth
diapers are more comfortable for the babies and health
wise also they are safer than the disposable diapers.
Disposable diapers contain the chemical sodium polyacrylate,
which absorbs the liquid and turns into gel. Studies
show that this gel can cause rashes if the baby has sensitive
skin. Whereas the cloth diapers are gel free. Cloth diapers
are more environmental friendly. Whereas disposable diapers
not only fill landfills, if the fecal matter is not thrown
into the toilet potty, but ends up in the landfill, then
it pollutes the environment by spreading water borne
diseases.
Cloth Diaper Accessories
On an average a baby would use around 8 to 12 diapers
a day. An ideal amount of diapers would be around 36
to 40. In this way, the mother needs to wash the diapers
once in three days. The accessories that need to be bought
long with the cloth diapers are
1. Washable and reusable liners keep diapers stain free.
They are very much useful at night.
2. Diaper covers keep the baby's clothing and bedding
dry.
3. Washable wipes and diaper pins are also the part of
the cloth diapers.
4. Diaper pail with a locking lid is useful to presoak
the diapers.
Tips to wash diapers
Washing diapers is not a difficult task. Presoak the
diapers, drain off excess solution into the toilet. Put
the diapers into the washers and wash the diapers in
the cold presoak cycle. Never use a strong detergent
to wash the diapers. Remember to use only half of the
recommended amount of the detergent. Use a hot or warm
wash and a cold rinse with highest water level. Dry in
the normal temperature for an hour.
