Cleaning
Baby Toys
There is a wide array of baby toys for all age groups
in the market. The baby toys are either made of plastic,
rubber, stuffed material or wood. Each and every baby
would have its own favorite toy. They would want to go
to sleep even with it and in short, it should be with
them always. It is a good idea and highly recommendable
keeping the baby toys clean. The baby tends to touch
everything and anything, and tends to put their hand
and objects in the mouth. So when the toys become dirty
or when the baby recovers from flu or viral fever, it
is the mother's duty to clean the toys.
Ways to clean baby toys
There are basically two ways to clean baby toys. The
first one is to scrub clean the toy with soap and water.
This would remove the grease and grime. Second method
is to sanitize the toys with mild sanitizing liquid.
However, before sanitizing the toys, one needs to clean
the toy to remove the germs that can hide in the grease
and grime. Depending on the size and type of the material
used there are different ways of cleaning and sanitizing
the toys.
How To Clean Small Plastic/Rubber Toys
Most of the baby toys are either plastic or rubber.
If the toy is battery operated, clean the toy with damp
cloth and the dust in the battery slot can be removed
with a dry cloth. If the toys are not battery operated
then, they can be washed in the dishwasher with dish
detergent and hot water. Once the toys are cleaned dipping
them in the diluted bleach solution can sanitize them
The wooden toys and large plastic/metal toys can be wiped
with the diluted bleach solution and air-dried. The fabric
toys can be washed in the laundry.
How Often To Clean The Toys
It is always good to keep the toys clean. However it
is not necessary that they have to be cleaned everyday.
Clean the toys whenever they are soiled. It is not a
bad idea to clean the toys when the baby is recovering
from diarrhea or flu. It is highly advisable to clean
and sanitize the toys after a play date. It is recommended
to clean the toys that are frequently used regularly.
