Cleaning
of Baby Bedding
Each year baby bedding designers are becoming more and
more creative. The reason is that they have realised
that all parents are not for solid blues and pinks. The
expectant parents have become choosier and looking for
good and contemporary styles and designs. Apart, from
the designs, the parents are choosing the beddings that
are machine washable and easy to clean.
Cleaning Baby Bedding
There is different protocol for different baby bedding
items such as blankets, sheets, pillows, duvet cover,
pillow cover and so on. The cleaning of the baby bedding
depends on the material it is made of. The label on the
bedding item will have a clear instructions printed on
it. The baby bedding has to be cleaned according to the
instructions given on the label, because washing them
incorrectly could result in damages. However, if the
label has come off, then follow the instructions written
on the washing machine or it can be dry-cleaned.
Different Fabrics And The Cleaning Methods
It is always advisable to buy cotton baby beddings.
The reason being, it is a natural fiber and a versatile
material and can be machine-washed at home. It is more
durable than other fabrics and cool to use during the
summers. However, if the cotton bedding is too large
for the machine, it is advisable to give it for dry cleaning.
It is important to pay attention to the temperature during
washing and drying. The silk and woolen baby bedding
is best dry washed. However, some brands of silk and
woolen bedding can be hand washed too.
Type of Detergents used
Attention needs to be paid too, when using the detergents.
Check the bedding label before washing. For baby bedding
it is always better to use mild detergents that have
no fragrance. Never use bleaching agents on the items
that has the label ' do not use bleach'. The reason is
that the beach is a chemical, which can damage the fabric
and the color of the bedding item.
Few more tips
Silk or nylon baby bedding should be either hand washed
or dry-cleaned. They should not be exposed to sunlight.
Any bedding that is acetate should never be line dried
or machine dried. Bedding of polyester fabric should
be hand washed and can be line dried.
