Don't
fill the whole space.
Too
much furniture in a room can do the opposite of what you want.
It keeps people out.
In
my home, we are in a situation where we have more furniture than
space. My wife is trying desperately to cram it all in. Rather
than get rid on some. One thing I have noticed is that once she
gets all the furniture jammed in the room the room is unusable,
because you cannot move. I feel claustrophobic. It is difficult
to get in and out of the furniture and the room.
My
suggestion is to be careful with placement and amount of furniture.
Some of the larger pieces that we have were given to us. It is
just so hard for me to turn down free furniture. But just say
no sometimes.
There
needs to be a flow of space through the room. Keep at least 30
inches between pieces in the primary flow (3 feet would be better.)
and at least 2 feet in the secondary flow.
When
I refer to the primary flow I mean from the door to the main pieces
of furniture. Secondary refers to the satellite pieces and smaller
furniture.
I
say all this to say. Be careful in how much furniture you place
in a room because it will make people not want to use it.

Think
about your Rear, Dear!
Furniture can look great, but if you do not like sitting on it,
I have one question. WHY?
Pillows
can add color and comfort.
Instead of spending money on furniture, try a new color and/or
pattern for a new look.
