Faux Sponge Painting - sponge in the beauty

Sponge painting is one of the most quickest and versatile technique of faux painting which has the capability of transforming a boring space into a very exciting area. The sponge painting can be done even without a great deal of experience or a prior understanding. Hence any one and everyone can perform faux painting by themselves in the house to make it look the way they want it to look.

Process of sponge painting
As sponging any wall can add to the look of texture and depth to the walls this technique is the ideal one for the walls that have certain amount of irregularities in the finish. Here is the detailed process of undergoing faux sponge painting:
• First of all one has to prepare the walls for painting and choose the color. However it is recommended to practice this technique with the color choices in a board before applying to the walls.
• The walls then are painted with the base color of the painter’s choice. May be a flat egg shell, satin or semi gloss interior paint.
• Then in a bucket a part of second color of paint and four parts of faux glaze should be mixed properly. Adding more glaze will make the top coat more transparent.
• Then a natural and damp sea sponge should be dipped into the bucket and the excess one should be blotted off.
• Then one should start by tamping the sponge into the wall in a random pattern leaving a thin coat of glaze in the surface of the under coat or paint.
• There should not be any pushing as it will increase the amount of glaze in the surface.
• The sponge should be then rolled over the surface to get a random appearance.
• As the glaze gets depleted in the sponge it should again be redipped and the work should be continued around the room. A small area must be covered at a time by keeping the edge of the painted area always dry.
• The small and corner areas should also be touched with a small piece of sponge in order to get a consistent and random finish.
• Then standing a little away from the wall one must try to observe whether the whole area has got the same portion of undercoat and glaze showing or not.

In this way by simply following the above mentioned steps sincerely one can faux sponge paint the walls of the house very easily and effectively without spending much of the valuable time.
