Replacing
a piece of sheet rock is simpler than you think.
If
you have a home in your sheet rock. Replacing a section of sheet
rock is pretty simple.
If
you have a hole in your sheet rock and don't know what to do.
Read on!
Depending
on the size of the hole there are some simple options. If it is
a small hole (baseball size) you can get a patch that will work
pretty wall. It is just a screen with adhesive on one side. Cover
the hole with the screen (adhesive side down) and let the adhesive
set for a minute. Then cover it with patch and a fairly wide spackling
knife. Just get you a good size glob and smooth it over the screen.
It will be slightly raised over that section, but it is alot better
than just leaving the hole.
If
it is a larger hole you will need to cut out some sheet rock.
Depending on the relationship of the hole to the stud in the wall,
as to the size of hole that you will need. if it is in the middle
of two studs (they usually are because the studs act as a brace)
just the area around the hole extending it to the studs on either
side of the hole. You will need to reveal at least half the stud
so you will have something to mount the drywall to. Once you have
your hole cut, cut a matching piece of drywall to fit in the hole
that you just cut. You can pick up a scrap pieces of drywall at
the home improvements store for free or a very reduced price.
After securing the piece in the hole that you cut. Just fill the
voids with spackling and smooth with a putty knife. Let it dry
and you are ready to paint. Viola!
This
is also a good opportunity to re paint the room if it needs it.
