Ceramic
Floor Tiles
A
perfect flooring of the house would be the one which is cold to
stand on, water resistant and resistant to stains and spillages.
Ceramic floor tiles exactly match the above criterion. Available
in almost all colors, patterns and shapes these tiles are made
up of natural clay, decorated on one side with colored glaze.
The surfaces of these tiles are normally glazed in comparison
to others which are matt or have an unglazed finish. Laying ceramic
floor tiles is similar to the method of laying tiles on a wall.
But due to their thickness a floor tile cutter with angled jaws
is required to cut the tile.
Planning
The layout of the ceramic floor tiles must be planned on a paper
first, especially when the plan needs a mixture of different shapes
and designs. While planning, one must take into account the fixtures
and fittings of the room as the design of the layout of the ceramic
floor tiles need to work alongside these features. Patterned tiles
which are to be placed at the internal corner where there is a
need to cut it thereby increasing the risk of loosing the beauty
of the design must be avoided. Also one must try to avoid the
use of a quarter or less of a tile on an end wall as the small
parts becomes very difficult to cut without breaking the small
end section. An inward opening door or any cupboard doors at floor
level should necessarily be removed before starting to tile the
room as the tiling raises the level of the floor to a considerable
amount.
Cleaning
and caring your ceramic floor tiles
The specialty of this particular type of flooring is that it doesn’t
require any type of polish as it comes with a natural glaze or
a matt finish. Polishing in turn will make them more slippery
and dangerous to walk on. Sweeping would be more preferable then
vacuuming as the end of some vacuums can scratch the surface of
the tile. One must do a hand wash or by using a squeezy mop. In
short it can be concluded that with a little conscious effort
you can let your ceramic floor tile’s super glaze last forever.
