Mold control
Steps to prevent mold growth and mold control Use air conditioners with de-humidifiers, as these are effective in removing excess air moisture, filtering out pollens from the outside and providing air circulation throughout the home and dry air from these make it difficult for mold to thrive. (Filters should be changed once a month). Avoid wallpaper and carpets in bathrooms, as mold can grow under them. Use bleach to kill mold in bathrooms. Surfaces that have mold on them can be cleaned with bleach in a small quantity. All sources of leaks must be traced and fixed as mold thrives in damp conditions. All houseplant soil should be checked regularly to ensure it is not damp and the same applies to firewood/lumber kept outside. Keep an air filter or ion and ozone generator in the basement or moisture-driven attic to destroy mold and keep the air clean. Clean the bottom of the fridge to ensure mold does not grow under it and for controlling mold, if it already exists in certain parts of the home, place an air purifier in your home that emits negative ions and ozone. Equipment that helps in Mold control The new generation generators, air filters and air conditioners have negative ions and ozone, which are both capable of reducing the effects of mold. Negative ions are able to remove the spores from the air, to reduce the allergic reactions that people may suffer as a result of mold. It is the mold spores released by the mold, when inhaled that cause these allergic reactions. Negative ions are much more effective than air filters (even HEPA air filters) at removing allergens, such as mold spores and research indicates that ozone has also been found to be lethal for mold as ozone inactivates mold, rendering the mold cells harmless.
