Potable water tank
What are they for?
Potable water tanks can be used to store potable (safe to drink always)
water in relatively small quantities or suitably large quantities for
everyday use or for the emergency use, as well as for crop irrigation
in the fields by the farmers and even rich land owners. They serve a
great deal to all these uses and make sure the they can be used for the
best of its purpose and to the best of its worth. They can also be used
to store water for non-potable use such as fire extinguishing or for
a better sewage treatment.
Place them where?
Some water storage tanks are designed for placement above ground, inside
(as with hot water heaters) or outside (everything from water supplies
for one home or one business to fulfilling the water needs of an entire
community). Others, serving the same functions, are made to be permanently
installed underground.
The shape of tanks can vary depending on the way they may be used and
the places in which they will be installed. Shapes can include cylinders,
barrels, bowls, and even flexible bladders.
Installing of the potable Tanks:
When using large potable tanks for storage of water, it is of the utmost
importance upon delivery to insure that the tank is free of defects,
so check them properly. They should not be delicate that they cannot
be pierced or punctured or they will be rendered useless. Knowing this,
it may be a good idea to use a crane when installing the potable tank
then it will not matter as to what the tank is made up off. May be it
is of plastic or steel. It is though easy for a plastic one. While at
the same time the clearing of the area of any potentially sharp objects
is very important. If a crane cannot be used, then be sure to take extra
caution when rolling the tank to the right place. Once the tank is in
position, before filling it with its intended liquid whether water or
chemical, you should test the tank by filling it with water. Most manufacturers
recommend keeping the test tank filled for five hours before keeping
it with the require liquid for 24 hours. This insures that the potable
tank you have installed has the capacity to hold weight of the water.
By using this simple technique during setting up, potable tanks can be
working quickly and steadily in no time.
