Pneumatic Screwdrivers -
Pneumatic screwdrivers are a range of Air Screwdrivers that have been
designed keeping the user in mind. Many patents have been filed in the
manufacture of these new Drivers and have won several awards. These drivers
are compact in size. Many come with a soft composite ergonomic grip and
with a new high technology patented MSC motor that produces about 30%
more power than a normal air driver. Some may even have a new one pulse
3% tolerance cross path patented clutch system.
Some features about pneumatic screwdrivers and comparison with electric
screwdrivers -
Torque Precision - Both electric and pneumatic screwdrivers contain mechanical
clutches. The shutoff mechanisms of both (micro switches and air valves)
are designed for shutting off the power source whether it is compressed
air or electricity. Accuracy is a function of choosing the correct speed
and clutch spring.
Power To Weight Ratio - Typically, the hand held air screwdrivers are
lighter and smaller than the electric screwdrivers. They also have better
power to weight ratio. This is a benefit in tight access areas or where
balancers can't be used.
Higher Production Rates - Air screwdrivers are also able to deliver higher
production rates as they are not limited by the dwell time required to
drive a fastener, or the cycle time between fasteners. Usually, electric
drivers require minimum of 3-4 seconds between driven fasteners and should
not be on for more than 0.5 seconds. This removes the heat build up and
prevents the failure of electronic component.
Broader Torque Ranges and Versatility - Air screwdrivers have to offer
a huge range of torque capacities and speeds to fit the many applications.
Air screwdrivers are mostly available as straight, pistol or even angle
head models.
Easier Maintenance - pneumatic screwdrivers have fewer moving parts and
there is no wiring or de-soldering to consider. Also there are no delicate
electronic components to handle or adjust. Also these are more "forgiving" than
electric drivers and if one assembles the motor incorrectly, it simply
stalls. Typically, the maintenance department is able to provide a quicker
turn around to return the units back to production.
