Motorized ball screws convert rotary motion into linear motion. They consist of a screw and a nut. A Ball screw has a number of bearing balls that transfer the load between the nut and the screw.

Parts of a motorized ball screw:

Bearing Ball Circuit - this is the closed path through the nut that the bearing balls follow.
Return Guide - The bearing balls circulate in the ball screw's nut. Once the balls have completed their turn through the ball circuit, the return guide returns them to the beginning of the circuit.
The motorized ball design has the flexibility to accommodate tighter conventional or conducting magnets with a variety of geometries and weights. Several drive options arc available depending on the particular alignment application. Because of high efficiency of the motorized ball screw a brake is always is used. Some machine screw models are so self lowering so a brake is used. Brakes are always used to control the drift for all the models.
