Pre-sloped drainage:
The Pre-sloped Trench Drain System is designed for a variety of applications
- both indoors and outdoors. It is made of polymer concrete, a high strength,
and chemical resistant, closed cell material. As a result, it offers
a high degree of chemical resistance, has a water absorption value of
less than one percent, and is more than four times stronger than ordinary
Portland Cement Concrete. Combining simplified installation, high durability
and lower overall cost, the systems are proven superior in surface drainage.
If the apertures in the grating are too large it is possible for heels
of shoes to get trapped in the grating and cause injury. With the growth
of litigation due to injury caused by incorrect product choice, this
area has become much more important in locations where drainage systems
are heavily trafficked by humans. Typical of such locations are railway
stations, petrol stations, shopping malls, restaurants, kitchens, schools
and hospitals. The owner of the premises is often the target of litigation
but specifies and installer also bear responsibility, so the choice of
the right product is extremely important.
Benefits:
The Pre-sloped Drain Systems are designed for a variety of applications,
both indoors and outdoors. It is made of a high strength, chemical resistant,
composite material. As a result, drains offer a high degree of chemical
resistance and have a water absorption value of less than one percent.
Rapid drainage, durability and resistance to freeze/thaw cycles make
the product ideal for outdoor applications. The product is more than
four times stronger than ordinary Portland Cement Concrete. The 24" and
48" components make it extremely versatile. With the proper components,
a flow rate of 900 GPM per outlet is attainable. It also provides with
the high capacity drain system (a pultruded FRP drain) which can achieve
flow rates of more than 3000 GPM for 120' of drain. Combining simplified
installation, high durability and lower overall cost, the systems are
proven superior in surface drainage.
Conclusion:
Over the last few years pre-sloped drainage has been at the forefront
in the manufacture of user friendly gratings for drainage systems. To
collect water it is essential that the drain systems have slots or holes
in the grating which allow the water to fall into the channel or pit.
There is however certain applications where, although the collection
of water is paramount, the drain system has to be 'safe' for use by humans.
