Drainage systems
What is drainage?
As per the dictionary, drainage is nothing but the action involving the
removal of a fluid or a material or a wound cavity by using the techniques
of suction or even gravity. Now, not restricting ourselves to the medical
meaning of the term, the other aspects need to be explored too. Its agricultural
and psychological aspects are different. Talking about its meaning in
psychology, it should be elaborated upon that the term refers to the
process of releasing out all the conflicts or pent-up emotions and feelings
by means of expression of any kind. These feelings and emotions can be
hostility, hatred or even guilt. But, generally speaking, draining can
be summed up as a process that is all about removing or emptying something.
The benefits of drainage in agriculture are that it adds to the efficiency
of the phosphorus fertilizer; it helps conserve nitrogen content of the
soil, and above all the technique helps control the problems of water
logging, leaching, and salinization of soil that are caused as a result
of irrigation.
What are drainage systems?
Drainage systems are the mechanisms and the tools so used in order to
accomplish the process of draining. The two main aspects of drainage
are agricultural and mining.
1) Agricultural drainage systems:
Drainage in the field of agriculture refers to the process of removing
the excess water that is there in the soil of the agricultural farm.
The task can be accomplished by using a system of surface ditches. Also,
not to forget, underground conduits are a good option too. But, to be
able to use them, certain considerations like the soil conditions and
the land contour need to be thought of.
It is also noticed that at times, the Diesel or centrifugal pumps are
also used for the process of drainage. But these are more effective if
draining is to be done on large pieces of land. In modern times, drainage
equipment basically consists of the drain pipes of clay, the concrete
ones along withy the plastic ones. These are generally positioned many
feet under the ground.
2) Mining drainage systems:
Drainage in the sphere of mining mainly consists of removing water that
generally seeps into the shafts and the other mine workings (that exist
underground) from the surrounding areas. If not done regularly, there
is a danger posed to haulage and mining equipment. It may weaken the
supporting structures along with flooding the mine completely. The Water
in a mine can be drained into sumps, or reservoirs. These reservoirs
are generally excavated below the lowest working level of the mine, and
are then drained away with the help of pumps.
Drainage grates
Good drainage in the landscape is as important as proper irrigation. Too much water in landscaped areas can result in numerous plant diseases and can even kill sensitive plants like expensive evergreens. Overly wet turf areas are prone to soil...
Drainage Pumps
Introduction
Proper preparation of the drain pumping system for extended periods of non-use in freezing as well as non-freezing climates is important to preserving the drainage system's performance and duty-life expectations. Investing a short...
Landscape drainage
Landscape generally means objects around your building .Erosion of the property due to excess of water flow causes landscape drainage. If there is too much of drainage then it may result in numerous plant diseases and even kill the plants like...
