Drainage repair:

Introduction:

If there is an improper drainage, it leads to the need for foundation repair and house leveling. Drainage may be called improper due to much reason. It may be when moisture collects under a Metroplex slab due to which the soil swells which commonly called as upheaval, which also lead to slab bending and cracking. As the slab bend substantial damage will occur to masonry, sheetrock and tile floors which may done even before breaking. These early warning indicators can be used to minimize foundation repairs.

Proper drainage: needed
To prevent a soil robbing streaming effect the land should slope downward away from the foundation which assure that water should not be collected near or under the slab, so for this reason the slope should be noticeable, in the range of 1 inch per foot for the first 8 feet from the foundation. So for the above mentioned reason there should a proper installation and working of the drainage and time to time check of the functions.

Common drainage repairs:
If we are talking about drainage repairs then it may require grading to alter the drainage slope, adding surface drains, or adding French drains. French drains and surface drains are very confusive sometimes .Surface drains remove water at the surface, while French drains collect and drain away sub surface water. Sub surface water is often the culprit as it causes soil in the first 3-5 feet to expand, directly driving upward the beams which provide structural integrity to the house. French drain includes surface drains, but also includes a buried perforated pipe that works to collect sub-surface water. Typically the mesh covered pipe is covered with gravel enclosed in another layer of mesh. The gravel layer extends up to 6-9 inches below the surface of the soil. The drain is buried around three feet away from the slab, to a depth of at least the bottom of the perimeter foundation beam. Distance to the house should never be less than the excavation depth of the drainage system.

Conclusion:
All of the factors that we have discussed play a role and are important to enable us to safeguard against the need for foundation repairs.

Poor Soil Drainage:
Although the general thinking about soil is that it is a rather solid substance, it is actually composed of liquid and air spaces as also solid materials. But the solids make up only about 50% of the soil by volume, most of which is rock material...
