Feng Shui Design

Success of a Feng Shui design is determined by how well you live in your spaces. Feng Shui designs focus on chi - or energy that flows through out. According to the holistic theory, our personal energy force is the chi or the life force. This force needs to be to nurtured and encouraged to flow free, which will bring health and well being through the surroundings.

Encouraging Flow

Flow can be stimulated in a number of ways. The first step is to remove all the obstacles and distractions that stops the chi from flowing freely. Create multiple pathways into a house, as one enters not just a stairway running up and away from the central space of the house. Further more mirrors can help in reflecting and drawing energy into other parts of the home. Smooth and rounded surface reduce the friction in flow of the chi. Soft treatments and softened corners help the energy to flow through out the room.

Finding Balance

A Feng Shui design is all about balance. In modern homes it is essential to balance the personal and the technological, the active and the resting self, the social and the individual, the outgoing and the reflective. This balance can be obtained by the applying the traditional design principles of color, elements and bagua that shows the domains of the house.
A holistic design focuses mainly on maintaining the natural in our life. It minimizes the presence of technology, softening its glare either by enclosing it in cabinets, draping it in colorful fabrics or behind screens. It involves a prominent use of natural materials including natural fabrics, stone, wood and metal. Wherein the holistic approach steers away from chemically treated products to the greatest extent.

Thoughtful Placement

Under the holistic approach of design much of the placements are done intuitively. Feng Shui uses the bagua or the map of Feng Shui to establish the various domains of the house in their connection to our life. The bagua helps in determining which activities and which objects are the best suited to the given space.
A good Feng Shui design can be easily achieved with the complete awareness of our space and our relation with that space.
