One of the basic advantages of evaporative cooling is that, the water from an evaporative cooler can be re-used for irrigation purposes. This use for irrigational purposes is a natural use for this water since the hot, dry conditions that often spur cooler use also spur irrigation demand. However, in desert areas the water has a high concentration of salts and water used from evaporative cooling systems for irrigation may be a concern for plants that are sensitive to water with a high mineral concentration. Other than this if the water is drained directly for irrigation, prolonged use of the coolers may result in over watering of the plants.
