Tenon saws:
Tenon saw belongs to the family of backsaws. Backsaws come with a back support that provides useful weight while sawing. Tenon saws: Tenon saws are more commonly referred to as backsaws. They have a thin blade that is stiffened by brass or steel back. As the name suggests, these saws are primarily useful for cutting tenons and also mortise joints. Tenon saws work with great degree of simplicity. Usually, the wood that is to be used is marked and made ready for sawing. Then it is placed on a bench hook and held in place by the operator's non-preferred hand. The preferred hand meanwhile guides the saw to keep the saw groove straight. The length of such blades is normally in the range of 22 cm up to 40 cm. Sometimes they can be made larger depending upon their use. Another specialty of this saw is its teeth. They are provided with rip -filed teeth with thirteen teeth per inch as their common size. The teeth are fine and sharp and best suited for the job at hand. The angle of the teeth of the tennon saws is very important. Mostly they are pitched at around 75 degrees. The angles also depend on the purpose of the saw. Some saws are designed to both cut along and across the grain. For tenon saws that are exclusively used for cutting tenons, the teeth can be pitched along the right angle. Tenon saws also have a pistol grip style handle, which allow the handles to open and close at the base. Maintenance: Tenon saws require basic care and maintenance like any other tool. Proper Storage to avoid moisture and harsh weather exposure is very important. They also need to be stored away from children and pets as the teeth are sharp which can lead to accidents. Proper handling of the tool is of prime importance as ill handling can lead to damages. The saws need to be inspected regularly to avoid any major problem. Though these saws are highly durable if brought from a reliable source, their teeth can become dull with age. Thus, tenon saws need to be sharpened from time to time. With the help of these simple guidelines, tenon saws can remain serviceable for many long years and work just as efficiently.
