Netball is the best game that can be played in the backyard. Your children would be astonished by the game. It is the game that can be played by an adult also. This game can be played in however small area. This is a version of basketball. Netball is a team sport just as basketball. It originated from U.S. It was initially termed as women's basketball. It is the pre-eminent women's team sport.

How to play netball

The rules and game strategy is same as the basketball. Similar to basketball, the game of netball is played on a hard court with scoring rings at both ends. The ball used in netball resembles a basketball but is lighter, smaller and slightly softer in construction. Unlike basketball netball is white in color. The hoops, is of similar height and dimension that of basketball hoops. But it does not have a backboard. The field is divided into three. It regulates the movement of the individuals in each team. Two semi circles termed, as shooting circles are located at each end from within all scoring shots must be taken. There are seven players in each team. Team members are given nominated, named positions. In competitive netball, each player must wear bibs. Bibs are showing the abbreviations indicating their position. The players are allowed to move only in certain areas of the court. A player in a section of court that is not part of their playing area is considered as offside. The positions can be described as below:

1. Goal Shooter is abbreviated as GS. He attacks goal third including goal circle.
2. Goal Attack is abbreviated as GA. He attacks goal third, goal circle, and centre third
3. Wing Attack is abbreviated as WA. He attacks goal third and centre third, not goal circle
4. Centre is abbreviated as C. He attacks everywhere except goal circles
5. Wing Defense is abbreviated as WD. He attacks goal third and centre third, not goal circle
6. Goal Defense is abbreviated as GD. He attacks goal third and centre third, including goal circle
7. Goal Keeper is abbreviated as GK. He attacks goal third, including goal circle
