Some mailboxes are so funny that, one would think that it is an effective signpost and also an effective way of advertising. The popular fun mailboxes include toy car, hammer mailbox, fish mailbox, football helmet, cyclist mailbox and so on. Some mailboxes are so weird; they can even frighten the postman away.
To Make A Fun Mailbox- Materials
The children can make a fun mailbox at home as part of the creativity. They can choose any theme, for instance a doggy mailbox. Some of the craft materials that are required are
1. A mailbox of steel or plastic
2. Scrap paper for making basic patterns like eyes, ears and nose.
3. Craft foam and scissors
4. Double-sided indoor/outdoor carpet tape and colored tape
5. Decorative ribbon and polyester rope.
How To Use The Materials To Make The Mailbox
1. For instance, to make the funny mailbox in form of a fish one begins by making patterns for the basic features on the scrap paper. To make a creative mailbox by adding dimensions, consider layering shapes of the fish fins and eyes.
2. Trace the patterns on the craft foam (use water resistant craft foam) and cut out the shapes. Secure the cutouts to the mailbox with carpet tape. After attaching the foam cut of the ears, eyes and nose to the outside of the mailbox, stick a pink foam tongue to the inside of the door.
3. Now make a paper pattern for the tail. Cut out a paper tracing of the back of the mailbox and then cut that shape in half vertically. Tape one of the halves to the base of the paper tail. Using this template cut out two more matching foam pieces and sandwich the tail potions together with a tape. Tape the two flaps to the back of the mailbox. For added attraction, embellish the tail with a second layer in a contrasting color.
