Television Antenna:

An antenna is an electronic device or a component that is designed to send and receive waves.
It is a center fed element for transmitting and receiving radio frequency energy. A TV antenna is an antenna that transmits and receives electromagnetic energy. A television antenna is basically a low-tech device. It consists of a series of elements that are cut to specific lengths. These are designed to receive specific frequency of signals. In this each element is a pair of metal rods extending from a boom. There are separate Television antennas available for very high frequency (VHF) or ultra high frequency (UHF). A TV antenna depends on the quality of construction and how well the metal is anodized.

Properties of television antennas:

Since the TV antennas are designed to receive a compatible frequency from a transmitted TV signal. They should be mounted outdoors. Outdoor antennas are more helpful than indoor antennas. The outdoor TV antennas provide additional clarity and reliability. They also provide good picture and sound effects. As higher the antenna is it is possible to get higher quality of clarity. The UHF signals are more prone to attenuation. A single channel can be received with the help of a Channel out antenna. Cable companies to receive local TV signals often use channel out antennas. A channel out antenna is a good home application. It is helpful when there is no proper transmission of signals.

Types of television antennas:

There are many types of TV antennas. Some of the common TV antennas are, HDTV antennas, dipole antennas, stacked antennas, reflector antennas, log periodic dipole arrays, and Yagi antenna, which is called as a magical antenna. A dipole antenna is the simplest antenna. A dipole has a positive gain. This does not radiate equally in all the directions. A stacked dipole has two dipoles. It has a gain of 8.15 dBi. A LPDA has many dipoles arranged in echelon and crisis-cross fed from the front. It has got its name from the geometric growth. It is a logarithmic term. It is a wideband antenna. It can have a gain up to 7 dBi. Most of the VHF Televisions have LPDA antennas.
